Dear Colleagues: As president of the Puerto Rican Bar Association of Illinois, Inc. I am enthusiastic about what we can accomplish in the near future. As an organization, the PRBA will continue to educate the Hispanic community about the law with programs like Law Day, mock trial at local high schools and a referral service. Our membership is diverse in their areas of practice; from Administrative Law to Zoning Law. From the solo practitioner to partners in large law firms. We have judges in the State, Federal and Administrative levels. With the Alliance of Bar Associations, the PRBA will continue their role in judicial evaluations, screening and interviewing candidates who want to become judges. On a charitable note the PRBA Foundation will continue to award scholarships to qualified law students in financial need. The PRBA will continue to adopt needy families during the Christmas holidays to raise their holiday spirits. Also, provide school supplies, with our back to school programs. I will work on increasing our membership with younger attorneys and challenge them to participate in the PRBA's various committees. My hope is that the new generation of PRBA members will continue to water the seeds the older PRBA members have planted so that our organization's voice will not be ignored, but heard, respected and recognized.
